My name is Jerry Lee Phillips and I am the Democratic nominee for Tarrant County Commissioner Precinct 3 (all of Northeast Tarrant Co. west through Haslet). Last year, after a talk by the current commissioner, I asked him specific questions out of my concern for the stewardship of the current Commissioners Court. What was clear to those of us in attendance is this: We have big problems with transportation issues, high taxes, and more. To solve these problems we need fundamental change on the Court. The bottom line is you deserve someone who will prioritize and serve you daily as your commissioner. With your help, I will be your commissioner in Precinct 3 come January 2009. I am against tolling freeways that you and I have already paid for in order to build infrastructure we can’t live without. I will fight to reduce your property taxes because I know the financial crunch they are bringing to families pinched by out of control energy costs, economic inflation and skyrocketing health care expenditures. High property taxes are also a detriment to economic development, which means we need a commissioner who will ask the tough questions and rein in cloaked expenditures of the Court. Have you had enough of the status quo, good-ol’boy, tax ‘n’ toll politicians? So have I! Let’s do something about it.
